Assessment
Imaging is central, but so is the examination: what the scan shows only matters alongside the weakness, numbness or pain it explains. Bring previous scans and a clear account of how symptoms have changed over time.
Emergency symptoms
Come to the hospital immediately for a severe sudden headache, a head injury followed by drowsiness or vomiting, rapidly worsening limb weakness, or numbness around the groin with loss of bladder or bowel control.
