Physical medicine and rehabilitation treats problems that affect movement and function. The emphasis is on restoring what a person can do, using exercise, physical therapy, injections and medication rather than surgery.
Conditions we manage
- Back, neck and joint pain, including long-standing pain
- Rehabilitation after stroke or a neurological illness
- Recovery after orthopaedic surgery or a fracture
- Sports and soft-tissue injuries
- Arthritis and other conditions affecting mobility
How treatment works
Assessment comes first: what hurts, what you cannot do, and why. From that we agree a plan, which usually combines a supervised exercise programme with pain control and review over several weeks.
